Meet Rob McElhenney & Kaitlin Olson, partner owners of Mac’s Tavern on Market Street in Old City.

This duo may sound familiar for their starring roles on FX’s It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, of which Rob is also the creator. Although the show returns with a new season in September, we’re here to talk about their new bar.

Philly Beer Scene: When you were a resident of Philadelphia, what bars were you hanging out in?
ROB MCELHENNEY: Well, I moved to New York when I was 18, so I’m sure the bars I was hanging out at wouldn’t appreciate the publicity.
KAITLIN OLSON: I’m from Oregon, but I love how many local bars there are. It’s not like that in L.A. where we’re from. Ladder 15 is one of my favorites though.

Meet Chris Fetfatzes, owner of Hawthornes Café and Bella Vista Beverage. He’s also that random guy that crashed the pictures in last issue’s Tasting Room.

Philly Beer Scene: What did you go to college for and actually want to be when you grew up, before you decided to get into the beer business?
CHRIS FETFATZES: I went to college for a Business Management degree. I wanted to be a Pharmaceutical Sales Rep. I always wanted to run a company and be in charge of a Fortune 500 business. I just really wanted to know what it felt like to start a company from the ground up and that’s why I started Hawthornes.

Get to know Mike Lubieski, area beer rep for Weyerbacher.

Philly Beer Scene: What did you go to college for and actually want to be when you grew up, prior to deciding to drink beer for a living?

Mike Lubieski: I actually graduated from University of the Arts with a Bachelor in Music. I studied jazz guitar while I was there and played a lot in the Philly area. I taught guitar and piano for a while and worked as an account manager for Hoshino USA (Ibanez guitars/TAMA drums). I actually still teach a little, but it’s only a few students. I still love music and wish I had more time to play. I really can’t complain with beer being the trade-off, though. Read more…
